| Orange County Incubates a New Life Philosophy - Integrated Recovery - Examiner Posted: 11 Aug 2010 02:34 PM PDT Dr. Ronald Gellis is a clinical and forensic pyschologist who has been a fixture in Orange County for many years. I first met him when he was operating a role-model academic institution for adolescents who were in trouble with alcohol and drugs and who had made suicide attempts. Watching him interact with adolescents that society had written off was inspirational and educational. Under Gellis's watchful attention, I saw young people regain productive lives and go on to be productive members of the community. Today, Gellis is leading a new national effort to promote a new philosophy which combines Twelve Step philosophy with a simple, but demanding program of physical exercise. He is calling it Integrated Recovery and you can check out his website at http://integrated-recovery.com/ Dr. Gellis works from a healing perspective that is deeply conservative, profoundly spiritual, and grounded in the latest evidence-based treatment theory. Gellis is particularly charismatic because he is a student of his own techniques. He's 62 years old and can still do about 25 pull-ups. He is a particularly effective resource, in my view, for police officers, fire fighters and retired military personnel who will identify with his physical discipline and tough, persistent mental attitude. The attached video will show you the type of intense physical activity Dr. Gellis recommends.
