Jodi Topping
Palmetto Ridge High School

A member of the first graduating class of Lely, Jodi Topping went on to get her undergrad at the University of South Florida. With 15 years experience, Topping currently teaches eleventh grade English and Journalism at Palmetto Ridge High School. This is also her first year as the Yearbook Sponsor for Palmetto Ridge. She says that her family, including three gown children and three wonderful grandsons, is her first 'hobby', enjoying spending time together which recently included an eight thousand mile cross-country camping trip this past summer visiting such places as the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and Arches National Park.
In regards to her teaching philosophy, Topping believes that all kids can and have the right to learn but realizes that all don't learn at the same pace or can even achieve the same levels.
'It isn't the 'A' on the report card that determines the success of the student, it's the journey that they took along the way.'
She also strongly believes that kids should have fun while engaged in the learning process.
'If they don't look forward to coming to class, for whatever reason, the end result won't be positive.'

A life long sports fanatic that spends way too much time watching, listening, and reading about sports, and not enough time actually playing sports (as evidence by my substantial beer gut). Once upon a time I did play sports, and like some many of us sports junkies, my glory days were back at Annandale High School (Annandale VA) where I was a two-way started on the 1993 State Champion football squad. When I'm not focused on sports, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, especially my son Giacomo, and reading the philosophy of the great Khalil Gibran.
